Working out what type of energy meter you have

There are two main types of meter: standard and Economy 7. You'll have a separate meter for gas and electric.

Standard meters will only have one reading on them. You'll probably have a standard gas meter, but your electricity meter could be an Economy 7 meter.

Economy 7 meters typically show two separate values – a day rate and a night rate. If you have electric storage heating, you might have an Economy 7 meter because it'll mean you pay less for your electric overnight.

You can normally find out what meter type you have by looking at your latest bill.
