Paying in a cheque
You can pay cheques into your Monzo account by posting them to us. We recommend sending your cheques in a 1st/2nd class stamped envelope (or tracked mail to be extra safe!)
We also have a Freepost service you can use, but this can take up to 10 working days for your cheques to reach us.
Please note that we're not able to accept cheque drop-offs at our office address.
If you need to pay in a cheque to your business account, the steps are a little different.
Regular post 📮 (recommended)
Write your 8 digit account number and 6 digit sort code on the back of the cheque in the top left corner. (To find your account number and sort code: open the Monzo app, tap the Home icon in the menu bar, tap 'Manage' to the right of your transaction feed. If you can't see that, tap on 'Account' under your card.)
Make sure the name(s) on your cheque matches the name(s) on your account. (To check this, open the Monzo app, tap your profile picture in the top left of the screen, tap the settings cog icon in the top right of the screen, then tap your name.)
Take a photo of the front and back of your cheque, as a copy.
Pop a stamp on your envelope and post your cheque to: Monzo, PO Box 77625, London, EC2P 2SU
We'll send you an app notification when we start processing your cheque. It’ll take 4-6 working days from that point for the money to reach your account.
FREEPOST 🏤
- Follow steps 1 to 3 above 👆
- Write FREEPOST MONZO (nothing else!) on the envelope and post it to us. You don't need to use a stamp.
- Typically It'll take 3 to 4 weeks to see the money in your account. That's 10 working days to reach us, then 4-6 working days to process. We'll send you an app notification when we start processing your cheque.
Some cheques may take longer to process, this is due to extra checks we must carry out as a regulated bank. We’ll reach out to you if we need any more information to process your cheque.
