Contactless doesn't work

When you order a Monzo card, you need to activate it in the app. It's rare, but sometimes contactless doesn't activate. If you have this issue, make a chip and PIN transaction and then contactless should work.

If you've tried both of these steps and your card's contactless still doesn't work, here's how to order a replacement in the app:

  • Tap the Home icon in the menu bar
  • Tap the Freeze button under your Monzo card (if you can't find these buttons, swipe down on your list of payments)
  • Tap the Replace button under your Monzo card.

If your card is faulty or damaged when it arrives, we'll cover the cost of the replacement. Please get in touch to speak with our team about this.
