HelpBusiness accounts: the basicsPaying in a cheque to your Monzo Business account

Paying in a cheque to your Monzo Business account

You can pay cheques into your Monzo business account by posting them to us. We recommend sending your cheques in a 1st/ 2nd class stamped envelope (or tracked mail if you prefer).

We also have a Freepost service you can use, but this can take up to 10 working days for your cheques to reach us.

Please note that we're not able to accept cheque drop-offs at our office address.

Guidelines for sole traders and limited companies
Sole traders: cheques must be made out to the legal name of the account holder, not the business name
Limited companies: cheques must be made out to your company's registered name

Regular post 📮 (recommended)

  1. Write your 8 digit account number and 6 digit sort code on the back of the cheque in the top left corner. (To find your account number and sort code: open the Monzo app, tap the Home icon in the menu bar, then tap the Account button under your Monzo card. If you can't find this button, swipe down on your list of payments)

  2. Make sure the name on your cheque matches the name on your business account. (For sole traders this will be your legal name. For limited companies this will be your company's registered name.)

  3. Take a photo of the front and back of your cheque, as a copy.

  4. Pop a stamp on your envelope and post your cheque to:
    Monzo, PO Box 77625, London, EC2P 2SU

  5. We'll send you an app notification when we start processing your cheque. It’ll take 4-6 working days from that point for the money to reach your account.

FREEPOST 🏤

  1. Follow steps 1 to 3 above 👆

  2. Write FREEPOST MONZO (nothing else!) on the envelope and post it to us. You don't need to use a stamp.

  3. Typically It'll take 3 to 4 weeks to see the money in your account. That's 10 working days to reach us, then 4-6 working days to process. We'll send you an app notification when we start processing your cheque.

Some cheques may take longer to process, this is due to extra checks we must carry out as a regulated bank. We’ll reach out to you if we need any more information to process your cheque.
